Social
Networking Best Practices:Box.net
If you've heard me speak, you know I'm passionate
about the quantifiable value-add from social
networking technology tools. That's why we're
launching the Social Networking
Best Practices. Once
a month, I'll write about a new tool / functionality
that I believe can enhance your productivity
in using various social networking applications. Here
is what you need to do:
1. If you haven't already, please
update your profile to make sure you receive future versions
2. Read it - Try it for yourself
This month - Box.net
Are you constantly on the
go? Do you find yourself in need of sharing critical
files with a broad base of stakeholders remotely? Although
there are multitude of very capable and often
expensive remote storage area networks (SANs)
in the market, one of the simplest ones – not
to mention free, is Box.net.
Late last year, LinkedIn™ finally caught on
to the promise and potential of social networking
(beyond a simple handshake and an introduction)
to the mass collaboration platform it can become
and launched its suite of Applications via a
number of strategic partnerships. One of those
is Box.net, a virtual file sharing application.
Add the Box.net Files application to your LinkedIn
profile to manage all of your important files
online. By providing flexible storage online,
Box.net connects people socially and professionally,
enabling them to collaborate, share, and access
their important files securely and easily, from
anywhere and for free.
Specifically, within LinkedIn, the Box.net Files
application allows you to:
- Upload and manage your files from within LinkedIn
- Post files to your profile
- Share files and collaborate with your LinkedIn
friends and colleagues
- View and edit your files online
Go to Box.net, setup a free account and upload
your user id and password in the Application
section of LinkedIn to enable this functionality...
Remember, version one
is better than version none, so give it a try and the next time someone
asks you for one of your common file, you can
send them to your LinkedIn profile to get it.
Come back next month and we’ll cover TripIt...
